I am working on the boat with 2 others and also seeking bookings at the moment. So we are ready to serve by for example taking people on Christian retreats. I have my US Merchant Mariners Documentation as an Able-seaman Special and am working towards my licenses in both engineering and deck. I am a member of Christian Boaters Association and sail a cutter rigged 25' Pacific Seacraft on the Great Lakes. I assume that this is one of many legal loopholes which the unscrupulous use in order to unjustly and unrighteously get money. Whilst I agree that perhaps your main focus should be to find out what God is teaching you throughout this experience, I also feel that the whole situation - in particular the surveyors and solicitor in question - should be exposed, preferably on national TV, for the crooks that they really are..! I cannot believe that individuals would be able to get away with the actions that you describe if they were subject to scrutiny. As you mention in your post, there is no evidence that your builder caused any of the damage that they describe, and as far as I am aware, if there is no evidence that I committed a crime, then I cannot be found guilty..! At the moment therefore, (unless I have misread your post), the group are simply making unfounded claims without providing supporting evidence. Its a bit like me claiming that another driver damaged my vehicle, without providing the testimony of any witnesses - for all the other party know, I could have done the damage myself and then looked around for someone to foot the bill...! My suggestions therefore are: have you approached the BBC or ITV/Channel 4 with your story? - they may at the least be able to help you, if not incorporate it into one of their 'expose' programs. I realise that you may be reluctant to take this step, but if you were to end up needlessly paying the fees that you describe, what would this say about stewardship of resources? The old saying comes to mind "In order for evil to triumph, it is only necessary that good men do nothing".. In this case I thoroughly believe that those perpetrating the scam deserve to be exposed... On a more personal note, I know of at least 3 former solicitors, 2 of which are Christians and the 3rd being my brother, who could help research this issue for you. I mention this because I strongly feel that the party trying to pull off scams like this , usually will succeed because their victims don't have access to the information and resources to fight them off. I am personally willing to put you in touch with one of these persons, if you so wish. Having said all this, I will also pray along the lines that you mention. Yours Stuart Chris
